An intrepid group of 9 American women---health care professionals, holistic healers, and Buddhist students---braves obstacles to journey to a remote high-altitude area of Eastern Tibet which has one of the highest rates of maternal and infant mortality in the world. There they run a holistic clinic and offer midwifery training to semi-nomadic women who traditionally give birth out on the grasslands without a skilled birth attendant, sometimes cutting the umbilical cord with a stone.
