ATTENTION NEW MEXICO FILMMAKERS:

The 13th Annual Santa Fe Film Festival will again include a Spotlight on New Mexico Filmmakers program section.  

Fees for NM Filmmaker submissions are:

Features $45  Shorts $35 – these discounts are good throughout our submission cycle exclusively for NM Filmmakers and will be available on withoutabox beginning March 15, 2012.

The Santa Fe Film Festival (SFFF) is a non-competitive Festival. The festival is open to US and Foreign films in threee categories: Narrative Features, Documentary Features, and Shorts (all types).

It is important for a selected film to have a presence at the festival. SFFF encourages all selected films to have at least one member of the film’s production staff / and or cast present.

CALL FOR ENTRY GENERAL GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES:

To be eligible, a film entry must have been completed after September 1, 2011.   For the review process, all film entries must be submitted on DVD (Region 0 or Region 1 and no PAL formats, only NTSC). DVD’s should be clearly labeled with film title, running time and contact info. Please test DVD on several players to make sure it is playable.  DVD screeners will not be returned. Please do not send originals. Feature length narrative films must be a minimum running time of 50 minutes and feature length documentary films must be a minimum of 40 minutes. Short films may have a maximum running time of 49 minutes (narrative, animation, experimental etc.) and 39 minutes (documentary).

Non-English language films must have English subtitles or be dubbed in English.  More than one entry may be submitted. However, a separate entry form, preview copy and entry fee are required for each title.

Films in competition must NOT have had major theatrical release, US broadcast airing or DVD sales on the Internet prior to the festival. Acceptance notices will be sent via e-mail or fax by (approximately)  October 9, 2012. Due to the large number of film entries we cannot provide feedback or additional correspondence to films that are not selected.

If selected, a 35mm print or HDCAM of your film must be in the SFFF office, no later than November 1, 2012 , clearly labeled with return shipping information or current contact address, email and/or telephone number. Film prints and other film materials will be handled with utmost care, but neither SFFF organizers nor supporting organizations can assume responsibility for damage or loss of the print and other film materials while en route or otherwise during the course of the Festival’s possession of the film. Film producers / distributors are responsible for shipment of films to SFFF. SFFF will pay for one – way return shipment of films. SFFF will not pay for international freight of US based films.

CRITERIA FOR SUBMISSION – Eligible films must meet the following criteria::

- Submit film (3 copies) each copy on a single DVD-R or DVD+R

- If your bitrate is too high for the film to fit on a standard 4.7GB DVD, either lower it or burn it to a 9.5GB dual-layer disc. Should you choose to submit your film on a dual-layer (DVD-DL or DVD+DL) or HD-DVD disc, please include a standard DVD-R or DVD+R as a backup.

- NTSC, Region 1 or region free (Region 0) is preferred. If DVD is PAL or has a region code other than 0 or 1, please mark this CLEARLY on dvd.

- DVD must not have been distributed within the State of New Mexico.

- We do not accept Quicktime or AVI file data burned to disks.

~ if DVD copies are burned on home computer, please check them on a separate DVD player to ensure their playability. If the screener cannot be played on a standard DVD player, you will be notified once only by email, to replace the DVDs, at your expense.

- Please avoid using paper labels on DVDs.

- ALL materials received will be recycled. Please do not send print collateral.
